Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy for Confidence
Can hypnotherapy help with confidence?
Hypnotherapy can help us work with thoughts, beliefs and automatic responses that may be contributing to low confidence.
Rather than simply repeating positive statements that you don’t really believe, we can explore what’s underneath the self-doubt and begin developing different ways of seeing yourself and responding to situations.
The aim isn’t to turn you into somebody else. It’s to help you feel more confident being who you already are.
Can hypnotherapy help with low self-esteem?
Confidence and self-esteem often overlap.
You might be confident doing certain things but still be very critical of yourself, struggle to accept compliments or feel that you’re somehow not as good as other people.
Our sessions can focus on challenging those old beliefs, developing greater self-acceptance and helping you recognise your own strengths and value.
What if I’ve never been a confident person?
That’s okay.
Sometimes people tell me:
“I’ve always been like this.”
But something being familiar doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fixed.
Many of our beliefs about ourselves develop through experiences, relationships and messages we’ve absorbed over time. We can work on questioning those beliefs and creating different responses.
Your past doesn’t have to dictate how confident you can become in the future.
Can hypnotherapy help me stop worrying about what other people think?
This is a very common part of low confidence.
You may find yourself changing what you say, what you wear, what you do or even the opportunities you take because you’re imagining how somebody else might judge you.
We can work on reducing that need for external approval and strengthening your ability to trust your own judgement.
You probably won’t suddenly stop caring what anybody thinks — nor do you need to.
The difference is that other people’s opinions don’t have to control your decisions.
Can hypnotherapy help with public speaking confidence?
Yes. Hypnotherapy can be used to help with the thoughts, anticipatory anxiety and physical responses associated with speaking in front of other people.
Public speaking can include presentations, meetings, interviews, speeches and occasions where you’re suddenly the centre of attention.
Because this is such a specific area, I also offer dedicated support for public speaking, presentations and speeches.
How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need for confidence?
There isn’t one number that’s right for everyone, but it’s usually around 4-6 sessions.
It depends on what’s affecting your confidence, how long you’ve felt this way and what you’d like to change.
We’ll discuss your goals and review your progress as we work together. My aim is to help you develop confidence that continues outside the therapy room, rather than becoming dependent on therapy.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No. You remain in control throughout.
You’ll normally still hear my voice, know where you are and be able to speak, move or open your eyes if you want to.
Hypnosis isn’t mind control. It’s a focused state that we can use therapeutically while working towards the changes you want to make.
Can I have confidence hypnotherapy online?
Yes. I offer both face-to-face sessions in Leicestershire and online hypnotherapy.
Online sessions can be particularly convenient if you live further away or simply feel more comfortable having your session from your own home.
