Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy for Jealousy
Can hypnotherapy help with jealousy?
Hypnotherapy may help you work with some of the fears, insecurities and automatic emotional responses that can sit underneath jealousy. Rather than simply trying to stop jealous thoughts, we’ll look at what may be driving them and work towards helping you feel calmer, more secure and more confident in yourself.
Will hypnotherapy make me stop caring about my relationship?
No. The aim isn’t to make you emotionally detached or stop you caring about your partner. It’s about being able to care deeply without fear, insecurity or jealousy continually getting in the way of the relationship.
Can hypnotherapy make me trust my partner?
Hypnotherapy can’t tell you whether another person is trustworthy or control somebody else’s behaviour. What we can work on is your response — including whether your fear matches what’s happening now or whether previous experiences, insecurity or imagined possibilities are driving it.
The aim isn’t blind trust. It’s calmer, clearer trust — including trust in yourself and your own judgement.
What if my partner has actually given me reasons not to trust them?
Not every uncomfortable feeling is irrational jealousy. If somebody repeatedly lies, hides things or breaks agreed boundaries, hypnotherapy shouldn’t be used to convince you that you’re imagining the problem.
Instead, we can work on helping you feel calmer and more confident so that you’re better able to decide what is and isn’t acceptable to you.
What if I’ve been cheated on in the past?
Past betrayal can understandably affect how safe you feel in later relationships. Your mind may become particularly alert to anything that reminds it of what happened before.
We can work with those previous experiences and the emotional responses associated with them, helping you separate what happened then from what is happening now.
What if jealousy is already damaging my relationship?
Then it’s worth addressing it. Constant questioning, checking, accusations or needing reassurance can put considerable pressure on both people.
Recognising the pattern doesn’t mean criticising yourself for it. It means understanding what’s driving it and deciding that you’d like things to be different.
Can I change if I’ve always been a jealous person?
A pattern being familiar doesn’t mean it has to define you.
You may have spent years saying, “I’m just a jealous person,” but jealousy isn’t your identity. It’s a response — and responses can change.
How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need for jealousy?
Everyone is different, so I don’t like promising a particular number of sessions before I’ve spoken to you. How we work together will depend on what’s driving your jealousy, how long it’s been happening and whether there are previous experiences or other issues contributing to it.
Your free initial consultation gives us an opportunity to talk about what’s happening and what you’d like to change.
What if I’m embarrassed to talk about my jealousy?
Please don’t be. Jealousy can lead people to think, feel and do things they wouldn’t normally do, particularly when they’re frightened of losing someone important to them.
Our sessions are a place to talk openly about what’s happening without judgement.
