Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy for Relaxation
Can I have hypnotherapy just for relaxation?
Absolutely.
You don’t need to have a particular problem or diagnosis to experience hypnotherapy.
Some people simply want an opportunity to deeply relax, switch off and spend some time focusing on themselves.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Of course, everyone experiences hypnosis slightly differently.
You may feel heavy, light, warm, floaty or simply very comfortable. You might notice that you’re less interested in the sounds around you or that your thoughts begin slowing down.
There’s no particular feeling you have to experience for hypnosis to be effective.
What if I find it really difficult to switch my mind off?
That’s okay — and it’s one of the reasons people may choose a relaxation session.
You don’t need to forcibly empty your mind.
For example, thoughts may still come and go during hypnosis. Instead of fighting them, you can learn to let them pass without needing to follow every one.
Will I fall asleep?
You might become very deeply relaxed, but hypnosis isn’t the same as sleep.
Most people remain aware of my voice throughout the session, although you may drift in and out of paying conscious attention.
And if you do briefly fall asleep during a purely relaxation-focused session, I’m certainly not going to tell you off. 😂
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No.
You remain in control throughout the session and can speak, move or open your eyes if you want to.
Hypnosis isn’t mind control. You’re simply allowing yourself to enter a comfortable, focused state.
Can hypnotherapy help me sleep better?
Relaxation hypnotherapy may help you develop calmer habits and become better at settling your mind and body.
However, if sleep itself is the main problem you’d like help with, we may decide to work more specifically on what’s contributing to your sleep difficulties rather than treating the session purely as relaxation.
How many relaxation sessions do I need?
There’s no set number.
For instance, some people may simply want an occasional relaxation session, while others may choose several sessions to help them develop better ways of switching off and managing everyday tension.
We can discuss what you’re looking for during your initial consultation.
Can I have relaxation hypnotherapy online?
Yes. Relaxation hypnotherapy is available both face-to-face in Leicestershire and online.
All you’ll need for an online session is somewhere comfortable and private where you won’t be disturbed.
