Bad habits can be a real thorn in our sides sometimes. They can be harder to get rid of than just telling ourselves to stop. If we could just stop a bad habit with our conscious mind, none of us would have those bad habits! We would all be able to stop. Sometimes we need a little help to bypass the critical faculty, and speak to the subconscious mind, that will accept the positive suggestions, if it’s something that we really want. Sometimes we bite our nails, or suck our thumb to fulfill a different need, that we’re not consciously aware of. Hypnotherapy can help with this, because if its something you want to get rid of, your subconscious mind will accept the positive suggestions.
Hypnotherapy for Pain Control, Migraines & Headaches
Hypnotherapy has been proved to help with pain control. It does have to be confirmed with a doctor before we can proceed to reduce your pain, as there could be a more serious underlying issue going on. Using control room techniques, or a glove anesthesia can dramatically reduce your pain, sometimes even eliminating it altogether. Seeing the pain as a colour, or moving the pain can also help. People have had surgery under hypnosis, removing teeth, or a hernia operation. When I go to the dentist and see the hygienist, I never have an anesthetic, she is amazed that I just zone out. Most people would only have half their teeth done (one side) under anesthetic, but I just tell her to do my whole mouth, and zone out to my favourite place of relaxation – my beach in Portugal!
Hypnotherapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Hypnotherapy has been proven to work very well for IBS. There have been proven studies to confirm that hypnosis deals very effectively with the stress, which is a component of IBS. IBS flares up more when people are stressed, as when we are stressed we release the stress hormone – cortisol. And cortisol is an inflammatory chemical, making the IBS, or Chrohns, or even Eczema or Fibromyalgia worse. When the body relaxes, the body stops producing cortisol, and so the IBS stops.
Hypnotherapy for Vertigo
Hypnotherapy can help with the after effects of vertigo. If there was an infection, which there normally is, once the infection has gone, it can leave patients with a lack of confidence, and the feeling of dizziness still apparent. This is normally a fear though, a fear of it returning, so we just reduce the fear in the mind and build the confidence that they will be alright, using future visualisation, and helping them to cope with everyday situations.

Whatever your sleeping issues are they can be frustrating. They can deny you much needed rejuvenation, increase your stress levels, and leave you tired and exhausted. Everybody needs a good nights sleep, and one of the great side afffects of hypnotherapy is that when the mind and body relaxes, the client normally gets a great nights sleep, no matter what the issue was that they were coming for. Dermatology problems normally flare up when we are stressed, and so when we reduce the stress triggers in your life, and you feel more calm and relaxed with the world around you, we reduce the cortisol being made, which is an inflammatory, so the symptoms just don’t flare up the way they used to.

Hypnosis has had great results with Tinnitus, studies prove this. I will teach you techniques showing you how to turn the ringing down in your ears. Tinnitus is just an alarm bell to stress (unless you have physical damage). Stress definitely turns up the ringing, so when we reduce the stress, the “noise” reduces. Some experience tinnitus as a ringing noise, or a whistle, or just white noise.

Hypnotherapy works amazingly well with OCD, as OCD is basically you hypnotising yourself. If you think about it, you go into a trance-like faze, either cleaning over and over again, or checking over and over again, hypnotising yourself that something bad will happen if you do not do this. Hypnosis can help you visualise you NOT doing your thing and realising the world will not come to an end if you don’t do it, reducing the fear. Building your confidence up and lowering your anxiety by creating fake memories, as your subconscious mind cannot tell real ones from fake.
